Default A borla question

When you look at the borla stingers with that coffee can type muffler how does such a smaller looking exhaust allow more exhaust out then the much larger looking stock exhaust ?????

The Borla is just a straight pipe with holes in it surrounded by fiberglass whereas the stock muffler has chambers that restrict the the exhaust flow and noise.

To the point,,pipe diameter,,and flow path. Borla,,full 2 1/2",,straight through flow. The stock muffler is deceiving. Only the inner half serves as the flow part of the muffler,,the outer half is a big resonance chamber. The stock also reduces pipe diameter as it gets inside the muffler,,and has a VERY convoluted flow path. After seeing a pic of the inside(Patches posted one a couple of weeks ago) it's a wonder these cars run as well as they do with stock mufflers!!
