Default Help needed..Wierd battery discharging/charging issue

My car has been stuck in the garage for a week for a coilover install and a battery issue has cropped up. I tried to turn on the lights to check something and the car is completely dead. So i hooked up my charger and switched it on [12v2 amp rate] and immediately heard this weird clicking noise and the indicator needle on the charger started jumping. So i switched the charger off and the click was replaced by a whistle. I yanked the battery out and the whistle is still there. Turn the light switch on and the whistle goes away. Im running the Corvette Garage HIDs on the car right now. Could the lights be drawing power even with everything turned off? Also, could charging the battery in the car potentially hurt something?

sounds like your battery may have a short in it - AGMs do not always recover from a discharge

It certainly sounds like your battery died and yes, when you hook up power, headlamps will reset and so on. But, your battery draining away is an issue as you mentioned. Usually, we hear that one of the seat motors gets stuck on and continues to run due to a faulty seat switch. Also, check the battery to starter connection to make sure it hasn't come lose. If you can get power to the car, pull the codes while you're at it. Back on the battery, you might want to pull it and charge it out of the car, then reinstall.

I've seen more than 1 or 2 posts where folks stopped for gas and the battery died on them...

Yup, mine died in the span of 2 days. It was a little difficult to start day 1, worked fine the rest of the day. Started fine the next morning, drove to work, got home, went inside, came back out to go get dinner, and car wouldn't start.

Pulled the battery and hooked it to a charger, and it was boiling.

I guess using the car every day masked the problem. Im going to install a new battery as this one was in the car when i bought it and i want to start from scratch. Thanks for the responses!
