Default C5 Marker Lights on all time

got a 03 that has the marker light optional button on the dash. I just got this car but noticed that the front markers are on the time. The button to turn them on/off obviously doesnt work. Anyone had this happen or can advise me how and what to chase? Or how that button comes out of the dash?

If you are meaning the fog lamps, switch is next to the trunk switch, its channeled through the headlamp switch. Are your headlamps/parking lamps on too? Is the fog lamp switch itself, illuminated? The switch light gets its power directly from the fog lamp relay in the engine compartment which would imply its turned on. It gets turned on via the fog lamp switch, headlamp switch and bcm.

Don't confuse the DRL's with the FOG's. The DRL's will always be on when the key is on UNLESS you go through any of several methods to defeat them. (I hate them so mine are OFF)

DRL's are amber and the FOG's are white. In the event I am being Captain Obvious.....I am sorry !!

ok mine that are on I guess are DRLs (amber). The switch above my truck release which I assumed ran the DRLs apparently doesnt work or is off for I can not get the light on the switch itself to turn on and I dont see anything happening when I push the switch. Is that switch suppose to run the DRLs or the fogs?

You need to read your owner's manual. That switch is for the fog lamps. The DRL's run all the time. The fogs will only turn on when the headlamps are on and then only when the low-beams are on or parking lamps only.

I gotcha now! how does one go about getting the DRLs to turn off? and if you do that I suppose they are always disengaged to off correct?

You can pull the ebrake one click and drive or pull the DRL fuse. I don't remember which fuse but someone should chime in with that info.

Do a search, and you can get instructions to diable them and retain ALL the approach features you will lose if you just pull the fuse. Pulling the break up one notch gives you a light on the dash all the time....unacceptable.

My method involved pulling the relays from the floor panel, putting a small insulator between the contacts and replacing it all back. My way is reversable and does not throw codes or have any other ill-effect. The whole process took less than 15 minutes to do.

Good Luck
