I have a 00 C5 with heads, cam, ls6 intake, headers and vararam. Today while driving after about 10 minutes it started to idle fast (about 1.5k) so I pulled over and when I put it in park it surged to a little over 2k and then back to 1.5k. Trying to start it after that it would idle over 2k at first and then bog and die unless I tapped the gas and then it would stick to an idle around 1.5k again. While driving it feels like it's missing and power is reduced. Checked all the connectors on the maf and throttle body, plug wires are all tight, oil pressure and volts are good and temps are all ok.
Pulled the codes and got P0507 C for high idle, P0300 H for missfire and P1416 HC for secondary air system bank 2.
Anyone have any ideas what might be going on with her?
Since you live in Suffolk, VA you might want to call Virginia Speed in Virginia Beach and have Ed Hutchings take a look at your tune and help troubleshoot the problems. I was going to recommend plug wires, MAF and TB, but see you already check them. Good luck.
Check for air leaks past the MAF and check the PCV valve and its connection tube to the intake for leaks.
Thanks, checked for air leaks and checked the PCV... everything looks good. I start her up, it revs to about 2.5k for a second and then bogs down and dies.
Disconnect your MAF and try to start the car. It certainly sounds like a vacuum leak.
I disconnected the MAF and it actually ran better, didn't race and idled just a little over normal, it stumbled for a bit and eventually died. Does this mean I have a vacuun leak?
I hooked the MAF back up and it idled closer to normal but surged a lot and eventually stalled, DIC said reduced engine power and got code P1514 - throttle body reponse.
Are you hearing any sucking air like from the brake booster hose or anywhere else? You'll need to clear the codes of course. Sure the bottom of the bridge connector tube isn't off the intake manifold? Going back to the pcv valve, the hose that connects it to the intake can and will develop holes on the bottom of it, out of sight...happened to me.

Unmetered air is making its way into the engine. Check and re-check the air intake (post MAF) as well as the intake manifold and vacuum hoses. You can spray some carb cleaner around the intake and listen for changes in RPM (with MAF disco).

With the MAF disconnected, I sprayed MAF cleaner around the intake, intake manifold, PCV and all the hoses on the top of the motor and didn't get any change in RPMs. The only thing that seems to be making a lot of sucking noise is the air pump under the drivers headlamp. Looks like I'm going to have to take her to the shop unless anyone else has any ideas. I don't suppose this could be because of bad gas? There was a report on the local news about bad gas in the area.
