igition jammed ?
Today my 2003 c5 with 13,000 miles on it had a igition jam. I was unable to insert key due to a small piece of something being in the way? I fiddled with it in the scorching heat stuck at the store parking lot and was able to get the key in. It allowed me to finally turn key but it seemed to not be reading the chip on the key cause it would not unlock column or start engine! after messing with the small copper looking piece in the igition the key made contact and started the car. What is giong on? My security lwarning light is on now and I'm affraid to remove key. Is this a common problem with a solution? Do I need a new ignition? I'm laid off from work and money is tight!!! Anyone have any ideas ?? Thanks,Mark

It sounds like the chip contacts got trashed and is now jamming the key. I don't know if the contact assembly can be replaced without the whole switch.
