Default Headlight problems

Most of the time, my car only pops one of the lights up when I turn on the headlights. Sometimes the bulbs go on and neither side goes up. It's not always the same side as the left will go up on one try then the right will go up on the next. With enough attempts, both will eventually go up.

I've read most of the "winking" posts but non seemed to help. I've tightened down the 10mm bolt which connects the motor to the swinging arm.

If I manually turn the **** just a half turn immediately after flipping the switch, then the motor will do the rest and open all the way.

There seems to be more play in the **** than there should be at the fully closed position. What I mean is, the **** doesn't simply stop when the headlight is fully down... it keeps turning with a fair amount of resistance till it finally gets too tight to turn anymore. I think this is the problem since I can see the motor try to open when I flip the switch but there's too much resistance when it opens that it can't do the job. Anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks in advance!

BTW - I've installed bronze gears and radioflyer's light cannons and these problems started happening after my install... I might've messed things up somehow.

Did you install the resistor too?

I have no resistor installed. I thought that was to prevent the headlights from constantly cycling up and down when you tried to turn them off with an HID kit installed. I tried the HID's w/o the light canons and they had that problem where one side would endlessly go up and down.

When I installed the light cannons I didn't have that problem... I'm thinking it's because I have the Halo lights and that's providing the resistance since it's the only additional resistance I can think of when compared to the same HID kit with the stock light housings.
