i just did a head cam intake swap and i went to the hardware store and got stainless bolts for the valley that had smaller heads on them. we took a bolt from the valley to use for the correct thread and size and found stainless bolts that had half the head size so that the fast 90 intake would not hit them
Here is an issue I had with my install that was frustrating but fixable. On the back of the manifold there is a small vacuum tube that needs to come off before you pull out the stock manifold. I took mine off ok. But when putting the FAST in I tried to pull the tube over to put it on the FAST nipple. There is not enough length to do it. With mine the tube snapped off down in the wiring harness and the other broken end was never to be found. I fixed it by running another vacuum hose from that 6 inch piece I had left behind the battery and down to where the stock tube goes in the passenger wheel well behind the PCM.
I think it would be best to just plan on clipping that tube about 2 inches down from the nipple, saving the connector and put in 6-8 inches of vacuum hose right away. Hold the new hose that slips over the tube with small zip ties to prevent it from coming off. That way it will reach and it won't break on you.
Any expert want to comment on this preventative tip?
For the 2000 you will need to replace that coolant pipe that runs under the manifold as in the link I posted for you. You will need to get a front coolant pipe from a newer car as well as 2 plugs for the rear head openings. I just saw someone on for sale selling a pair of the back plugs.
It isn't a difficult job at all to do.
If you have the manifold only you can go to the web site for FAST and buy a kit that has everything you need to install it.
You can re-use the seals it has on it or you can transfer over the seals from your stock manifold. You are only needing to seal air blowing through and the seals don't need to be replaced like a head gasket.
If it is a FAST 78mm just transfer your throttle body. If it is a 90 or 92mm you will be changing to an LS2 throttle body and need the wire adapter to do it with. But it goes in easily.
