Default Put the Brakes ON!

Is there a "best" brake pad for the C5?
Not auto-crossing... just street driving and touring.

Have gotten two stories on 'less dust' pads.
1) ceramic pads have less dust
2) ceramic pads have just about as much dust, just a lighter color --so less visible.

Can you just pick up what you need at NAPA, Auto Zone or Advanced Auto without having to deal with the mail order Corvette after-market catalogs bunch?

I would strongly recommend HAWK HPS pads, they dust little and stop GREAT !

I have had stock C5 brakes (too dusty) and GM Ceramics (VERY little white dust but stop worse and warped my rotors).

If you have been satisfied with what you had before, then based on your driving activities, I would recommend going back with the stockers.

Same experience here...went through 2 sets of gm optional drilled and slotted rotors and gm ceramic pads...both sets of rotors either warped or a combination of warping and pad transfer! I got maybe 3,000 mi at most from each set of rotors!

Very recently, I had power slot rotors installed in front and centric rotors (blanks)installed in the rear(centric owns power slot).

With them, I had hawk hps pads installed and used ate blue brake fld.

This combination is a big improvement over the ceramic pads.

My car is 10yrs old, and these are the best brakes i've had on my car. My car is a daily driver.

These pads dust some, but not that much and are such an improvement that the dust, such as it is is more than offset by the improved stopping.

Hope my input helps.

The Carbotech Bobcat 1521™ is our high performance street compound that is our most successful compound. The Bobcat compound is known for its awesome release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. Like our AX™ & XP™ line of compounds, Bobcat 1521™ is a Ceramic based friction material offering minimal rotor damage and non corrosive dust. Bobcat 1521™ offers outstanding performance, even when cold, low dusting and low noise with an excellent initial bite. This compound’s virtually perfect linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Bobcat 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 900°F. Bobcat 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle, police cruiser, and has won multiple SCCA Solo 2 and Prosolo National Championships. The Bobcat 1521™ compound has been found to last two-three times longer than OE pads you can purchase at a dealership or national retailer. Bobcat 1521™ compound has also been found to extend the life of your rotors 2-3 times. That’s one of the beauties of Carbotech Ceramic brake compounds. Bobcat 1521™ is NOT recommended for any track use.
