Default Question about modded motors and E10.

I moved from New Jersey at the beginning of April. In Jersey there wasn't much E10. You had to look for it where I was located. Since I moved to Florida I found only one station with E0, and now that one has converted to "up to 10% ethanol". I understand that E10 is ~ 14.1 stoich and my car has been tuned to 14.7 stoich. I also understand that the O2's run in Lambda mode, so stoich won't be a factor there. However, when going to WOT and PE things change.

What I'm wondering is how many have modded motors and are now forced to run E10 and what you did, if anything to compensate.

I'm running 42lb injectors and 530rwhp. I'm of the opinion that my fuel pump is very close to maxing at 14.7.

Any suggestions, ideas, and experience is welcome.

The answer to your question is that your fuel trims should go up. The amount of fuel required to satisfy the 02's changes, but a stoich mixture will produce the same voltage with any fuel. For example. Let's say your stoich voltage for your 02's is 750mv. If you ran E85, it would take more fuel to cause the 02's to read that voltage than E10 or E0, so your air fuel mixture changes, but your desired 02 voltage doesn't change. It may take 6.4:1 to achieve 750mv with methanol, rather than 14.7:1 with gasoline. The only added consideration is the extra oxygen yield from burning alcohol. That would make you show leaner than you actually are since the 02's are looking for oxygen.

I am running E10 plus 100% methanol as a supplementary injection under boost only.
