Default Another temp ext sensor question

I searched this one and found nothing to match this. When I start the engine the ext temp comes up somewhere in the low sixties when I know it's in the 80's. Then it will slowly drop to a random temp, often as low as 40 then slowly head to the correct or vey near temp. Doesn't sound like a big deal since it will finally get there.... Well while it thinks it's cold it won't throw cold air, but seems to throw heat . Makes sense that it wants to heat, and not cool but what is going on with the outside temp? I cleaned and check the connection to the sensor Thanks Randy

If you checked the connector to the external temp sensor first, and if they are OK the sensor itself is most likely dying.

Likely the sensor. Friend had same problem with his 00 C5. Dealer tried to sell him a new control/head unit. It turned out to be a $15 part

Always check the sensor connector for corrosion first. Very common. Use a DMM to check resistance to ground as well.
