Is it NORMAL when a vette sits for 6 weeks in the winter time, to have a dead battery when you try to start it?
AND does jump starting it with another car possibly damage electrical or any other part of car, because i have hear jump starting is a NO NO?
Welcome to the C5 "black curent", dead battery soap opera! Yes it seems to be normal. If you are afraid of a direct jump, take the battery out and charge it. Best bet: get a Battery Tender and use it every time ytou car will sit for more than a few days. :yesnod: :) :smash:
C5's have key-off drain. Some systems remain powered up when ignition is off. Battery tender is the best solution. Delco batterys because of their construction don't stand cycling (repeated charge/discharge) if your battery has needed recharged many times I would replace it. Good Luck!
i have never recharged this one and i used a jump start to get her running, i just hope that did not do anything to the car.... what is this "black current"?
how does this battery tender work?
Mine has been in the garage for the last 6 weeks, went out
this weekend found a dead battery also, just trickled charged
it back up and away we went...
I thought gm had a shut off or something after
10 mins (except for the clock memory)
Battery tender will monitor the voltage of your battery and charge when needed , float when not needed. You can connnect the tender, plug in to household current and forget about it.
Controlmodules on you C5 won't like the spikes of current that can be generated jumping. The alternator on the car is designed keep your battery up not to charge a very low battery, it could self-destruct trying to charge the battery.
Q. since i jumpstarted the car is there something i can do to test and see if it did damage anything?
also can you connect the battery tender to the battery without taking it out or unhooking it?
