Default jacking

Can anyone recommend a decent jack for a c5?Had it jacked up Saturday with a friends floor jack-had to drive up on wood first to get the jack under.Should probably have one in the car also-so what do you guys like as a floor jack and one for the trunk?Any info is appreciated.Jack in NY.

It's pretty hard to avoid making some little ramps to get the necessary ground clearance. Pretty much anything long and "low profile" will work fine. There's a really good thread that includes instructions for building low ramps, jacking pads, etc.

For in the car, Mercedes makes an aluminum, single foot, screw-type jack that will fit under the rocker panel.
A search should turn up a picture.

In less than perfect road conditions, I was afraid the jack could slip so I made an extra jacking puck with a slot cut in the bottom for the top of the jack head.
