I was detailing the engine compartment and interior of the car this evening and listening to the Ipod. About 10 minutes in, the bass COMPLETELY went out of the speakers. At the same time I'm hearing a "buzzing" sound when the ignition is turned off under the right front / passenger side dashboard. (It's not the speaker). Wow...Any ideas what happened to my sound system? It's the stock Bose system. Car is as-new with 14K on the odometer. Any and all help will be appreciated. I'm hoping it's something simple like a fuse...If not, I guess it's time to upgrade the system, eh?
Yeah, the K.I.S.S. principle escaped me last night. I think the way the radio went out (just the bass) was what had me confused. I also think the two Crown Royals may have played a part. I was sure it was something electrical and the car had only been on the accessory power for ten minutes or so. (The underhood light was still on). Regardless, I tried to start the car this A.M. and whaddaya know...no battery...
I didn't even bother trying to jump or charge it as the battery is over five years old. Put in a new AC/Delco and we're good to go.
One quick question for everyone, are the new AC/Delco batteries configured differently than the old ones? (The new unit has caps on the top where the old one didn't).
Forget the AC/Delco and get an Optima. Delco's have a tendency to leak acid around the connectors. Not good for the BCM and wiring located under the battery.
