First let me say hello to everyone on this board. I have been reading it for a little while now. I am trying to decide if I want to sell my mustang or not. And if I do I am not sure what car i will replace it with. As of right now a vette is on the top of my list. My question is, if I go with a vert will I have to put in a roll bar to take it to the track? I dont really care for the way that they look on verts. I plan on modding whatever I get, so if I have to get a roll bar on the convertable, I might just go with the hard top. Thanks for any help..
Welcome to the Forum! I can't answer your ?, but I own both the Hardtop & Vert, both have Z51 suspension. The hardtop feels better to me ( cornering on mountainess roads, etc.) than the Vert does, my preference for the track would be the FRC, if you are using stock suspension.
Yes you do need a roll bar, any convertible that is 13.99 or faster will require a roll bar. I have been kicked off so much lately, I refuse to go back, right now! :mad :mad :mad
 Well that just sucks... Now I have to decide to give up the track or give up getting a convertable.... maybe i should just keep the mustang.. :mad I hate making decissions like this.

It depends... Some tracks are tougher than others. I've never been kicked off nor have I seen other convertibles kicked off at the tracks I've been too. You are relying on "good will" though. There's a bar in the works for mine so I can quit biting my nails. I didn't like what was available either so it's custom time. Ever seen one flip?
If I were buying a car to drag race I'd buy a coupe, or an F-body for that matter. Much fewer hassles.
Whatever you do, don't keep the Mustang.

Gee Wallstal,
What did you do buy a couple of BlackBirds after their retirement?
If you plan on drag racing more often than a blue moon, get a coupe or hardtop. If just occasionally, the Vert's OK, but you won't get many runs before they kick you off. Some tracks are more lenient than others, especially on street eliminator or street legal events.
