Hood Seal Adhesive

Has anyone else had trouble keeping the front hood seal in place? The original adhesive didn't hold long at all. I tried contact cement and now it is coming loose after about a month. What have you tried that seems to keep it permanently in place?

I used 3M outdoor double sided tape I found at Lowes. Been on for about six months now with no problems.

I haven't had that problem and my hood seal has been on for over 2 years.

Is your hood seal from a home improvement store? If so, those generic seals were intended for doors/windows and not the heat of an engine compartment.

I've had the "performance" hood seal on my car for three years w/ no issue of it coming loose. Make sure you completely degrease/clean the area with alcohol before applying another seal or any type of adhesive.

And read the directions of the adhesive you elect to use. Some of the adhesives will cause automotive paint to soften and degrade.
