Choosing a new Automatic Transmission
I currently have a stock LS1 2001 A4.
Since I am planning on keeping the car for the long haul, I am trying to plan ahead for a replacement transmission. I will probably also be changing to a Yank Converter and 3.42 Rear End when the time comes, but do not plan on any major engine mods.
My question is: Is it better to look at replacing with something like an RPM Transmission Package or is it better to just buy another new stock GM transmission when the time comes?
RELIABILITY is my primary concern. It appears that the GM transmissions have a better warranty for street use (one year). I know that RPM offers beefier components, but how do they stand up on the street in everyday use on a DD compared to stock over time?
