Battery Compartment Cover Question
I recently made a cover for the battery compartment from instructions posted up on the forum. I used a piece of ABS black plastic and it was a fairly easy DIY project that dressed up the engine compartment. I am very happy with the outcome.
The instructions didn't mention adding any vent holes in the cover but I have seen images of covers with venting.
Would a non-vented cover build heat in the battery compartment that could damage the battery. The reason I ask is that my battery has just crapped out and I am wondering if it is coincidental to the cover install or should I vent or remove the cover.
I have an ACDelco Professional installed by a dealer as a warranty replacement for a leaking stock battery in 2005. The dealer cut the warranty sticker off the battery and the label says the warranty on this battery is void without the sticker. It is possible that the battery could have gone bad in 4 years - but could heat be an issue.
Have any of you guys with the battery compartment MOD had similar issues?
