I'm about to purchase a Donaldson Blackwing air intake, and just had one question.. Can you simply install and go... or do you have to perform the idle relearn????
I don't think there has ever been a definitive answer to this question. From what I understand, the computer relearns on its own after driving the car for a while. I just followed the instructions that came with the Blackwing - i.e. disconnect the battery, then drove the car. Seems like it worked fine for me. :seeya

Someone posted the relearn procedure in an earlier post.
Here it is.
Corvette Idle relearn
(You can substitute pulling fuses instead of disconnecting the battery. Sorry, but I'm not sure which specific fuses, but I think there are two you'll need to pull.)
LS1 Idle Learn Prcedure (from How to Understand, Service and Modify Corvette Fuel Injection and Electronic Engine Management by the late Charles O. Probst)
Here's how you help the computer relearn the minum throttle angle:
(First, disconnect the battery)
Automatic Transmission LS1
1. Turn the key off, reconnect the battery, turn the AC control off, set the parking brake, and block the drive wheels.
2. Start the engine, shift to drive, let the engine idle for five minutes.
3. Turn the AC control on (make sure the AC button light is on). Idle for another five minutes.
4. Leave AC on, shift into park, and idle for yet another five minutes.
5. Turn the AC off, and idle for a final five minutes.
6. Finally, turn the engine off for at least 30 seconds.
Manual Transmission LS1
1. Turn the key off, reconnect the battery, turn the AC control off, set the parking brake, and block the drive wheels.
2. With the transmission in neutral, start the engine.
3. Turn the AC control on (make sure the AC button light is on), and idle for five minutes.
4. Turn the AC off, and idle for another five minutes.
5. Turn the engine off for at least 30 seconds.
I would do the reset just to get it all right, its easy. Turn the ignition to on position, pull the #16 and #32 fuses. Turn the key to off position, replace fuses, start car, do relearn. Personally, after every intake install I always do this, better to start fresh IMHO.
