***422 w LS7 top end - Suggest a new cam?
Guys I have the ol 422 stroker.
It currently runs a 232/240 110+2 .633/.640.
The LS7 heads are flowing great. An intake seems to be $2000 to gain 30 hp. Is there a new cam profile that bigger cube fellas like you are really liking? This was a custom grind from back when. I was just wondering if there is a sweet spot these days to get even better power -upstairs.
Searches havent given me good results, just recommendations for kattech etc.

That is a fairly small cam for a 422 ci LS engine these days. If you have not done so already I would certainly post this up on LS1tech.com as there is a lot more of this techno cam type of gear head info there!

Well, im not a camshaft "master", but i know i use a 254/262 .647 .647 on a 110 and it, to me, pulls like a freighttrain above 2500rpms. Its in a 427" and we dynoed it @ 539rwhp (even with the spec 3+ slipping on the graph) the torque curve was pretty flat(imo)- Ill see if i have a pic of the dynosheet..... Notice the "slipping clutch @ 3600rpms when he floored it! I KNOW this makes more than it says cause read the numbers @ 3500, then see how far up the rpms it takes for it to be that high again...SLIP!..It has a PERFECT clutch in it now and it kicks ***!! It was 88* and humid Missouri weather-fwiw- Jason

Intoc6S,
Now that's a man's cam (not for the feint of heart)!
Off the top of my head, and I am no expert, I would think something like a 244/250, on a 112 lsa, with about about a .640 lift would be great for the street/strip, withour jeopardizing torque down low.
If I were the poster I would call some LS tuning experts, Allan Futral of Futral Motorsports comes to mind, and tell him exactly what you have, what you want, what your use and goals are for the car, and he will spec you out the perfect cam (as he is one of the Premier LSx tuners in the Country)!

I'm going to agree, you're running a pretty small cam compared to a lot of folks these days.. call one of any of those shops and get some suggestions from someone who does it daily. the next consideration is who is going to tune the car, they might have suggestions too
