Flat tire symptom but no flat
While driving down the road this morning at 70+, my 2001 coupe started acting like it had a flat tire. This happened shortly after touching the brake to slow down and change lanes. But, the gages didn't indicate an air pressure loss. And, when I touched the brake to come to a stop, the pedal shuddered under my foot - never did that before.
After stopping to look at everything (no tire problem at all), I noticed the left front brake smelled strongly of what I think is brake pad being hot.
When I re-started, no problem.
Did I just experience the "incomplete brake pedal return" as referenced in one of Ken's newsletters on recalls? Would have thought that was all of the brakes, not just one.
Anyone else had that happen? If so, what was the fix?
The correct fix is to replace the brake booster.I had the same problem about a year ago. There is a TSB out about sticking brakes for the 2001's :yesnod:
