I ordered a "mild" cam for my A4 vert, at 220/220/.581/.581/114 LSA, and was shipped a 220/220/.561/.561/114 LSA.... they told me if any, would only be about 2 hp diff.... and it would be easier on my valve train. The origional order was to be XER lobes, and this one is the XE lobes.... for 2 hp, I'd use it, but would hate to have to change it again if I don't get the results I expect....
It goes in my 2002 C5, A4, 2.73 gear, 1 3/4 LG PROS w/3" cats, cat back exhaust, Fingenshmelter (Linginfleter) heads, cold air intake, Yella Terra, etc.....
Any thoughts/experiences with a similar grind?
Thanks in advance for the info....
I got tired of it quick. It had a decent "burble" at idle, and pulled okay, but I quickly wanted more.
That trend didn't end (bigger and bigger) until I added twin turbos... then it was too much.
If I were you, stop playing nice... they sent you the wrong cam. Tell them to discount your next choice being a 224+ intake 230 exhaust .600 on a 114LSA.
No problem, they'll ship another cam if I don't want this one, but car is my DD and I do a lot of long distance cruising.... was only shooting for around 400 rr whl hp, figured the 581 would be fine for it....I wanted to stick it in there this weekend, if it's only an hp or 2, no problem, but any more than that then I'd want the one I origionally ordered... I'd just have to wait another week or so to get it...

I would return it for the cam you originally wanted. They should pay for the return cost since its their mistake. Also, with an A4 its a little different to get the results you want. Consider a gear upgrade to 3.42s as well as a better stall converter.

Why would you even consider cracking your motor open for a 2 hp increase?
I think he was talking about a 2hp difference in the other cam he orginally wanted.
to the OP... I would return that cam and get a bigger one. You will not see 400RWHP with that mild cam...especially on stock heads. Not sure what other supporting mods you have.

Exactly, I was referring to the diff in the cam I origionaLLY ordered... certainly wouldn't crack the engine open for that!!! Not stock heads btw.... origional post has the specs...... heads/cam/headers.... yadda yadda... haven't cracked it open yet, was waiting for the cam to show up....
