Default spedometer lights out...

I have a 98 coupe, and the dash lights are completely out at night....

any writeups on this problem would be great.... im going to check fuses tomorrow...

Its been a problem for about a month now, but came poping the lights on in the speedo, like a minute later.... Now there is nothing...

Any suggestions would be great....

Check outside running lights, if they are out, it's fuse #6 IP Fuse Panel. Do they come on when you start the engine? A little more info would help.

If your lights are coming on when you open/close the door, but not when you turn your parking lamps on or headlights on It could be the switch. Hope this helps

No its all the dash lights including the speedo....that are out, but went out today again, then it came on, like 5 minutes later.... Is there a relay to the dash lights? I would assume one of those small black box relays near the fuses? It seems to come on when it once... but dosent go off after that.... so its not a ground by that reason, so its gotta be a relay....

The gauge lighting is controlled by the IPC internally, there are two UV (Black light) tubes on either side in the front of the IPC. Are the Dimmer/HUD and DIC lights working? It's possible the power supply connector has somehow worked loose, dunno???

Here's a shot of the Power Supply (Silver box with Warning lable) for the UV tubes, the uinput is multi colored harness on top and the output to the left UV tube is the Blue Grey harness on the bottom;

Turn your headlight switch to the parking light position. Check to see if your running lights are on. If they are not ON, then your headlight switch (also called multifunction switch) has a bad connection internally. It is a fairly easy fix to remove the switch, open it up, and bend the connector so it touches again. Do a search on multifunction switch.
