Default Coil Pack & Cylinder Numbering

Does anyone have a link to where i can find out which coil pack corresponds to which cylinder? A how to, a diagram, something? I've looked and I think I'm a moron becasue I can't find it. I think a pack went bad and I need this to start trouble shooting.

Hmmm...can't you just follow the plug wire to the appropriate coil?

edit....Additionally, driver side starting at most forward to rear = 1,3,5,7.......passenger side most forward to rear = 2,4,6,8.

OK this is what I think Front to Rear:

Passenger side: 2,4,6,8
Drivers side: 1,3,5,7

This is correct yes?

I'm also getting (dealer diagnostics) a misfire history code in #8 cylinder. From a cold start it ran rough and went right to dealer to get the #. They test drive and its a H not a C now. No issues at dealer.

No plug issue, no wire issue. Is is a coil pack? I have MSD coils on here, for those with experience on this is a random misfire moment like this the first sign of a coil failing? Im taking an extra coil to the track just in case.

Swap the coil to another cylinder and see if the code follows.

Sorry, I edited my post to include the firing order....If you did not have MSD coils on there, I would be looking elsewhere..but they do have a history of issues. FWIW, the stock coils are very robust. If you are going to the track, I would just swap out the coil before.

What is the common first sign of coil pack failure though? intermitent cylinder failure or firing?

My friend used to get a miss once the engine was up to temp with his MSD's (just one pack). Never hurts to inspect the wiring either...cover the bases.

Check you plugs and wiring. A spark plug might be damaged during installation and you wouldn't readily realize it. Carbon core plug wires can fail.

It takes two clicks to insure the plug wire is secure...

FWIW, I had the EXACT same type of problem with those POS MSD coils. After extensive troubleshooting, including isolating the particular coil with a Tech II, I sent it back to MSD under warranty with a very detailed write-up explaining all the steps I had taken, INCLUDING moving the coil to different cylinders and problem followed the coil.

About a week later, I get it back with a note: "Tests OK". That's it! No explanation, no KMA, no nothing!........just "Tests OK".

I took all those POS things off and went back to stock coils and have had no problem since.

Ditch those worthless things. Serial.

I almost bought a set of MSD coilpacks, but im glad i didn t! I ve read numerous threads about problems with them. I admit that they "look" good on the engine, but i wouldn t take a set of them free. I ve never heard of problems with stock coils and like Lucky said above^^ The stock coils are Robust!

MSD STINKS-I'll never buy any of their junk again. It's either made in Mexico or China and it's all JUNK. Their coils are the worst for failures.

Poor man's MSDs. Nice paint job. At least YOU won't have the problem of the POS MSDs failing under load.

While I've never used the MSD coils for LSx/C5, I've used MSD ignitions and coils extensively for several highly modified tri five Chevy cars over the years.

I've never had a failure of any kind. I might be odd, I never had a MALLORY component fail me, either...

This question is not as dumb as it sounds. Where is coil pack number 4? ( code P0354)

Every place the plugs and wires and I moved all the coil packs around and I'm still getting the same code. I even tried moving the fuel injector. Continuity tests of all four wires took the coil packs. Check out normal. What could it be?
