Default MAF sensor placement

Any difference in the MAF mounted near the air filter end versus the TB end? I have seen pics of it mounted in either area. Does it make any difference?

When I moved mine, I drove it some before getting it to the tuner, and he said it was OK for the short term but not to rip on it.

I installed a Vararam and their Power Duct, which required moving the
MAF... it threw a code (forget which but it related to running lean),
so I took the Power Duct back off until I could get a dyno tune.
I didn't like the idea of driving with a lean condition...
Just got it back on and dyno tuned last Friday.

I moved mine back and forth, from right next to the TB to down on the Vararam(where it sits now) and i haven t had any problems/codes- anything! It never ran funny in either position.

When I moved the MAF back to the TB on my '02 Z06 (Halltech Venom), the car would throw a lean bank code every few weeks. I have read on the forum that it was not something to worry about and that the error was a result of air flow turbelence through the MAF and that the car was not actually running lean. I would just reset the code. Two months ago I installed the Halltech honeycomb air flow straightener (can't recall the actual name) and have not had a lean code since that time.
