Default Any proceedure for removing & install front shock?

Has someone done a Bilstien shock install on thier C5? Best way on how to remove the old shock? Is it best to remove the upper A-arm or do I need a shock compressor tool? I guess if its all apart its easy to instal the new Bilstien. Wes

There s a link that explains the whole installation/removal of shocks on here somewhere. Basically, you ll compress the A-Arm/shock with a floor jack and use zip-ties(plastic ties) to keep the shock compressed while u lower the A Arm/jack. then u pull out the old one. Try the search function.

you can disconnect tie rod, lower ball joint and sway bar link, at this point lower control arm will drop freely and you can insert the shock. may not be the fastest method but it will give you the most clearance.

i would highly recommend proper ball joint disconnect tool, you can damage rubber boots if you use pickle fork.

i am not sure removing the caliper is needed as long as you are not disconnecting both ball joints.

Absolute not necessary to remove ball joint, tie rod ect. use tie wraps, but caution they could come loose what I used was one of those tie down straps used to secure cargo in a pick up bed (they look like mini seatbelts).jack under lower control arm, secure shock, lower car to jack stands on frame, remove shock.reverse to install. thats it !!!GOOD LUCK!!
