Default C6 Seats -C5

I've been through reems of posts on this and most people say to take the C6 seats and put them on the C5 rails. Well, I must be a complete dumbazz, because I don't see how the C5 tracks unbolt from the seat. Any help?

The seat tracks have studs on them and the studs go up through the bottom of the seat frame. There is a nut that holds the seat track stud to the seat frame. You will have to move the seat foam out of the way to get to a couple of them.

Thanks for the response. After cooling down some I went out and saw the four bolts, figured out that I would have to remove both seat bottoms. From there it was cake. Driver's seat is in and fully functional. Only had to drill two holes to mount the C5 control panel. Passenger's seat is full power, also, so will tackle that next weekend. Once I figured out what to do it was a 1 1/2 hour job, at most. At some point I'll get a control (rehostat) for the seat heaters. Anyone know how many watts they pull, or maybe just the amere draw?

Thanks again

This is a project that I want to do as well. I want to hear about the seat heater connections! I assume ther eis no way to tie in the air bag in the side of the seat to the car's system, is there?

The air bags on the seat would have no sensor to correctly fire, so it would probably be safer not to try to make them functional. I took mine out and replaced them with some dense foam, shaped with my wife's electric knife, which I have seen real upholsterers use to shape foam with. As far as the seat heaters, There's connectors for seat bottom and back, so my guess is that once the current draw is determined a manual control for each unit could be installed.

You should pull the side air bags out and just stuff the area with some foam.

You should be using the C5 seat control module or else your memory and telescopic wheel won't work if you have those options.

The heaters in the C6 seat function off the PCM and will probably not work in the C5 as there is no way to control timer nor is there a circuit with enough power that turns on and off with the ignition that easily accessible.

I installed some C6 non-heated seats into my bro's 2001 Z06 a few weeks back. I ended up using the stock C5 side seat bezels and switches.

Bought a pig tail from a wrecked car and made my own harness for the passenger drivers seat and installed power rails with full adjustability.

Going to be doing my C5 in a few months with C6 seats that have the heaters. Will have to check into the seat heaters, but will probably just end up removing them and buying some after-market one's or leaving them out all together as the vette is not really driven in cold weather anyway.

I'll post pictures once I'm done. I've only got the driver's seat in now, but it is definitley an improvement over the C5 seats - more support, sits a bit higher, just feels better. As far as the seat heaters go, the only thing in the seats is the heater element, so I don't think it will care what controls it. It would have to be manually controlled, but if my biscuits get too toasty, I'll turn it down a notch.

Don't have the schematics handy but as I recall, the seat heaters and stock switch use a 5V reference signal.

I look for schematics.

Hmmmmm. 5V signal. Would that matter if I am using the C5 electronics? The only thing left are the heater connectors

The heaters get signal from PCM, which you can't do since you don't have that option in your car.

You'll need to get specifics and the proper switch ratings and way to hook u so that when you turn off the car that the heaters are not still on.
