c5 to c6 shifter
To prove that point, in C5 Tech, use search or search this forum (in the red banner). Use keywords "c5 shifter" or similar.
The after market offers billet construction and some with the ability to adjust the lever angle, or remove the lever, or replaceable bias springs. They after market usually has shorter throws because of their construction. Some of them cause more noise/vibration into the cabin as well as stiffer ("precision") shifting.
The oem C5/Z06 and C6/Z06 shifters are virtually identical in construction, ie stamped steel with rubber noise/vibration isolation. An oem shifter from '97 to current production '09 C6/Z06 will interchange. The oem C6/Z06 shifters have the laid back lever and much more ergonomic **** than the C5/Z06 shifters. That's what most people like about them over C5/Z06.
Within the multitude of past threads, try to find just one thread where there is a consensus of opinion. It won't happen. Some owners change their shifters as often as they do their shorts.

The best advice is to drive as many other C5 Corvettes with various shifters as you can. Maybe a local club? Then chose which one you like "the best".
HURST, B&M, MTI, KIRBAN, C6/Z06, MGW, BREATHLESS PERFORMANCE, CALLAWAY, PRO 5.0, are just a few of the "best" that I remember from past threads...
