Clutch Question???

Yesterday, while driving on an interstate, I noticed when I was accelerating from 65 or 70 MPH in 5th or 6th gear the tachometer would go from ~ 1500 to ~ 2500 and then soon drop down to ~ 2000 RPM. I could hear the engine slow down. I have 37K on my 1999 FRC, which has seen some track time (not really a lot considering its age). Is this an indication that it's new clutch time? If so, I think I would replace the clutch with the C5 Z06 clutch. Any thoughts would be welcome.

Try going up an incline in a high gear at a low speed and floor it. You will be able to tell if the RPM's go up, but your speed does not. (That would mean your clutch is slipping.)

Yep, it can't get up a hill in 4th (forget, 5th or 6th), it just revs up and makes a burning clutch smell. Thanks for the help, I'll get it in the shop real soon.
