Default Battery Problems & Reading Lamps

Hello, I have a 2001 convertible and last night my battery was totally dead nothin!!! I put my battery on the charger hoping something had just been left on. "Pam" (my corvette) started up this morning no problem and the dic said door ajar so i thought good my son prob just left his door partially open and that's what happened. Then after I started Pam i noticed her reading lamps looked weird they were kinda blueish and I couldn't get them to turn off nor were they as bright as normal. I would press the on off button on the rear view mirror and nothing would change they just stayed like I said kinda blue then i turned Pam off and they again didn't change even after exiting the vehicle. I checked back and about 10 minutes or so later the lights were off. I am not sure what this means and I keep trying to remember if the reading lamps work when its light out cause I obviously don't usually need them in the daylight. Does anyone know what this might mean or why they are not turning on even though the car is running??? Please help I drive Pam as my normal vehicle and I really don't want to get stranded somewhere with my son and a dead battery. Thanks in advance for anyones help and attention to this matter!!!!

Warmly,
Erin

Okay so now Pam wont start at all again after she had a full charge this morning and like i said previously the reading lamps did turn off after about 10 minutes or so, so i am assuming it cant be that. i am wondering if anyone has any idea of what could be wrong? could it be that the door did get left open and drained the battery and now the battery just can't hold a charge or should i charge the battery up again and try to pull codes off my dic to see if anything has registered with that system? i am just at a loss and like i said Pam is my normal car and also to add to the chaos my husband who is the one who usually fixes these kinds of problems for me is out of the country for 3 weeks PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks again,
Erin
