H/C shootout
How about we arrange a shootout somewhere like Ennis or HRP?
Teams would be based upon the tuner. Whichever tuner did most or all of the work on the car, but at least the H/C package, that would be the team sponsor. There would be one HC car owned by the tuner, and as many members as we can build teams, trying to keep it fair. The HC group of cars would not be allowed any power adder, just Heads, cam, headers, tuning, pulleys, etc. No SC or Turbos. No NOS either.
Also, there would be one champion car from each group. Anything goes with this car as long as the car is driven to the meet. This car would either be owned by the tuner or a customer of the tuner. The HC part of the work would have to have been done by the tuner. Anything else is ok from any source.
Points by team for each kill against all other teams. No duplicate kills. Anyone killed by another may challenge for a rematch once. Best two of three for a split decision. Meaning, if you won, then lost, then you would run once more for the winner. The tuner's personal car runs once only, best et wins. this would be necessary due to the fact that they probably would not pass tech inspection. If tech is not an issue, this could be revised.
Winning team gets dinner and drinks paid for by the other teams at an after race party somewhere handy. We could rent a track for around 500 a day and have it to ourselves. I have a suite at HRP and would gladly donate it to the event. I also can rent the track for 500 a day, I think. At most it would be 750. Everyone chips in for the track rental. Or we could try to coordinate with a test and tune day, there are several coming up. I think that renting the track on a weekend day, or maybe even a friday would give us more flexibilty on ET Tech issues.
I would love to put the BS to bed and let the big dog eat. Anyone have any interest? Email me and I will see how it goes. I would be happy to make the arrangements if it is done at HRP.

I'm In
Just don't make the date conflict with a Road Race that I will be racing in.
We are ready. Make the rules, and we can have at it.
Rules: No bottom end disassembly, Solid/hyd lifters? Belts, no belts. Electric water pump or not. Muffler or not.
Some of these things add power that is not a result of the Head and Cam package, so it would be better to not allow them to be run like that.
At any rate, I would be happy to run.

P.S. would it be limited to C4? C5? or anything goes?
So far you are the only tuner willing to step up. Hopefully there would be more of them willing to play. I admire that you are a true racer and would love to see your car. I am an MTI supporter and hope that Jeff will bring his basically stock stroker out to play. I don't know if anyone there has anything that will run with your car, but maybe a customer does. We may have to allow F bodies though. House of speed has Darth Vetter to rep them, his car is quick, but not in the sub 10 second realm without juice. I really would like to see something like this come off, just for the of it. I don't know how to keep this thread up in the list so that others can get involved, but I will try. Thanks for your interest. ON a more technical note, I would like to try to keep the rules simple since we are just out to establish bragging rights. I am open to suggestions on how we can do this in a way that brings a bunch of Vette lovers out to do what their cars were meant to do, go fast. I would make sure that we make every effort to accomodate your racing schedule, if possible. Long way from here to an outing though.
Cheers

I think we can put a small group together and work out a class arrangement where by we can cover H/C only (stock bottom end, top end anything goes but power adders), index brackets to give a broader appeal and bring in more cars, and unlimited street legal DOT cars (nitrous, turbo and SC all legal). I'd also agree to those of us who are running nitrous, if the bottles are removed we can run the true H/C class.
On my side, pick NHRA or IHRA, but one set of rules MUST apply for safety reasons. If you wanna play, you gotta pay and have the safety equipment. I would vote for finding a couple of tracks who can meet safety requirements and then have a blind draw for the track choice so no area leverages a particular track. If it happens to be their track, fair enough.
Also, I have the same problem as Lou... My race schedule is posted on my website at http://www.kbmotorsports.biz. I'm available any date except those listed.

Would it make sense to separate the LS1, LS6, LT1 series of engines into separate H/C categories to keep the comparisons and racing on an even foot?
Just a thought.
I didn't see this thread. I don't even know who started their first. I really don't care though. I just want to get something like this going. I think that having tuner teams makes it more fun and we can have more contestants. We could make it fair by establishing some simple classes. Also, I think that safety should be observed and that anyone breaking into the 10's must have a cage at least. I am a little softer on the NHRA vs. IHRA break points for the 11 second bracket. I guess the track will determine that anyway. So we ought to assume that we must meet NHRA guidelines. I will start a poll for the month to have it in.

Another thought... If this were done with the idea being that it could become an annual event that everyone could plan for, it might make it worth the effort it'll take to get it organized. It's not not like the issue of who's KOTH is going to go away :D
