So it sounds like you are saying that the adjuster has no middle ground? Its either full bright or its off? Is it possible that the difference is if the headlamps/parking lamps are on or off at the same time you are testing this? I ask because the brightness of the hud receives its commands from two different items, based upon whether or not the headlamps/parking lamps are on. The first one is if the lamps are off; it receives the brightness command from the hud's own light sensor which can be located at the top of the hud in a small hole that you can see from the outside. Its horizontally mounted. When the lights are on the hud gets its brightness command from the hud dimmer on the left side of the IP Cluster. Another question is are the DIC and Hvac indicators working normally in the two light conditions as well? The headlamp switch itself is what sends the status information to the BCM which in turn commands the IP Cluster, so this stuff is all interconnected.
