Default Cat-back Exhaust

What (if any) HP can be gained by a new Cat-back exhaust? It seems I would need an X pipe as well. I have a 2004 C5 w2.73 gears (auto). Not interested in improved sound, just any HP that can be gained.

What MFG would you suggest?

Thanks!

Default Cat-back HP gains?

I looked into this by searching, not trying to flame you, but there are tons of discussions on the viability of HP gains by installing a new cat-back. IMHO, the HP gains are minimal for stock engines. Most of us do it to personalized the car, improve the sound, and to replace those weak looking stock exhaust tips. If you go with a CAI, Heads, Cam, Intake, or a blower of some time then the gains will add up.

After I considered all the above, I orderd GHL Bullet for my stock '01 Coupe and am installing them myself this weekend.

Good luck

Nearly nothing will be gained on a stock motor/manifolds by replacing the cat-back. It's all about the sound.

He's right and yes you'll need a X-Pipe to stop the motorboat sound and the popping on decel.

This for alot of people is their first mod and it is a total waste
of money if you are looking for hp. Most guys need a louder
exhaust because they think it makes hp.
Still stock exhaust with 525rwhp------------------

I heard stock exhaust flows pretty well already... I want to replace the exhaust but that's just because I'm sick of that motorboat sound on idle.

I guess if you have 525RWHP you're FIed? Does the stock exhaust sound different? I don't think I've ever heard of any heavily modded car with stock.. any videos for us?

just buy a zo6 exhaust used. cheap, flows more, sounds better, looks nicer and weighs half as much.
