Hey Everybody,
I need some help. The last three times I have driven my car the service active handling light comes on and says to service vehicle soon. This is not a daily driver and it driven less than 100 miles a month. Once the car has been shut down over night the light clears and doesn't come back on until I've driven it for a while. Like maybe 10 miles or more. Any ideas on why this is happening? As usual Thanks for your help!
Sounds like your abs/tcs unit is going bad. Some people have had success with checking grounds and looking for corrosion, but i doubt you have that with the miles on your car. You can either replace it the EBCM or get it repaired. I went through these guys on ebay to repair mine... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CORVE...Q5fAccessories
absfixer.com is also good for the same type of service.
The simple version is push and hold the fuel button and touch the options button four or five times in like 5-7 seconds or so. That will start the code process. You can use the other buttons to manually go through the codes to identify individual codes and clear them as desired. The E/M button will exit.
Pull the relays and fuses and try to reset the system. Mine does this about every 8 months. I just pull the fuses and relays- makes it happy again. These C5's have so many intermittent electrical gremlins. Usually just as easy to banish as they are to aquire!!
Sitting or driving makes little if any difference on the grounds. You live in a salty air environment which makes it even worse. I highly recommend you go to the top of this section and go through all of your grounds. It isn't difficult or too time consuming and well worth doing.
My ABS & Active Handling lights were acting the same way and eventually the lights were on whenever the car was running. It turned out to be a front wheel bearing.
