Well, I have to replace my PCM. Got one coming from PCMforless.com, however I am nervous about the entire affair.
Scared that when I take out the fried one and put in the new one that things will not work properly. I am sure that everyone that has had to do this has experienced the same things I have. So, an advice or recommendations on this?

Of course knowing why the origional failed is important. But the PCM must match the VIN # for your car or have had the program loaded at the dealer. If it is not it might work but mismatch the security system and not allow the car to start even if it turns over.
So make sure the one you bought is "matched" to your VIN.

Thanks, just got an email from PCMforless and I should be good to go.
Well, I replaced the old PCM. Was able to do it without breaking the bracket too.
It was obvious that the previous owner (not sure which one) had a battery leak and it got on the PCM. Not sure that is or was the problem, but everything is good now.

Was the pcm a plug/play or did you have to have it programed?

Pretty much. You let Bryan at PCMFORLESS know what you want and he will install the tune.
I will say this, there are alot more advantages to doing the computer tuning yourself or having someone dyno tune it, but I am a believer that mail order tuning with Bryan is not a bad option.

The reason I asked,, I replaced the PCM in my truck and it would not start until a locksmith flashed it with the security codes. Just wondering if there were any issues with the security system preventing it from starting. When I look at C5 PCM's they all state require program loading at the dealer.

Bryan includes the instructions to help your PCM relearn/work together with the Security System if necessary. I didn't not have an issue, I just plugged it in and it started right up, but I had the instructions to take care of the problem if it came up.
