When mine quit working it displayed XXX. I have seen some posts on how to replace the battery, which appears to be the most common failure for older cars "mine is a 2001". I ordered a new one on-line for about $50 I believe. It cost about $20 more to be installed into the tire since it is a run flat. I would wait until i got the new tires if that is not too long to wait.

The sensor for your vette is gonna cost north of $100.00 just for the part. The later ones can be gotten for around $60... and no they're not upgradable or interchangable.

You can change to the later model sensors ('01-'04). What you need is the late model receiver, late model FOB, late model connector and 4 late model sensors. You can purchase all this for less than what 4 new early model sensors will cost. I'd recommend getting the parts from Gene Culley at gmpartshouse.com.

If you just want to replace the one sensor that is failing you can get rebuilt early model sensors for around $60.00. Look in the C5 Parts for Sale section of the forum.

I have rebuilt numerous sensors. I wouldn't bother with the trouble of updating the receiver in your car / going to new style sensors. If you have a little gumption you can do it yourself and it only costs a few bucks per sensor. Drop me a PM if you need any help.

I think you have to do some kind of a relearn process when you R&R the sensor also, so keep that in mind.
