Mine was extremely difficult to undo as well. What worked was to use 2 hands and back it off a little at a time. If I tried to unscrew it all at once it would not budge.
NVM i found my oversized plumber wrench and got it lose, thanks for looking guys
and thanx for the help
With the cap off, examine the threads on the neck of the tank. Since it's plastic, they can get crossthreaded, which makes the cap very difficult to put on and take off. Don't ask me how I know (happened on another GM vehicle I used to have).
If it was that hard to get off, then it was probably put on too tight to begin with.
The cap has a rubber gasket, so it only has to be snug. I don't tighten mine much past when the gasket first touches.
Also, if you have a cracked reservoir, you are probably wasting your time trying to repair it. Best just to replace it with a new one.

Speaking of coolant tanks. Mine has a small leak where the low coolant level sensor plugs into the plastic tank. I've cleaned it off, had a little gunk on it. Should I replace both or just the sensor portion. DEoes anyone else have a simplier fix? Thanks!
