Default Knock sensor burned out again!

So about 2 years ago i had to replace the front knock sensor b/c it went out. i figured it was from washing the motor. SO for the past 2 years i bit the bullet and not cleaned my engine bay with water. (occasinally i'll clean it with a damp towel)

and NOW the sensor has gone out again. at $50 the sensor is 2 expesnsive to keep replacing.

Why has it gone out again? is it possible the wireing harness is broke not the sensor? how could i tell

2 possibilities, water from the top or oil from the bottom (there is a seal in the bottom of the well the sensor lives in). I replaced the seals on the bottom when I did mine and used form a gasket around the top to keep stuff out from the top.

$50 is expensive????

Obviously not too poor, if you can afford a corvette, and the insurance that goes with it.....

Did you seal up the knock sensor valley cover last time you replaced it? there is a TSB on this.....

GM had a tech bulletin on using a high temp sealant to build up a ridge around the top of the sensor well to keep water from running down and collecting in the well..
