Default A/c issue wtf!!

02 coupe...Compressor took a crap, so replaced compressor, orfice tube, and dryer and recharged system checked for leaks found none. A/C blew cold for two days took it back to the shop all freon was gone, recharged added dye still found no leaks. That lasted a day this morning turned a/c on and nothing. I bought a florecent light and checked myself and found no dye anywhere. Anyone on gods green earth have any clue whats going on here or know where i should be looking. I checked entire engine compartment.

Mine leaks slightly at the low side Schrader valve. I've heard this is a common place and you might think the dye was spilled there when filling? I put a fuel injector O ring in the cap to seal it till I get around to replacing it and dumping/recharging the freon and oil. On mine with the car off I can put my finger over the port and feel pressure as I lift my finger off.

I did see splatter in that area on the side of the battery cover, just a small bit though I thought it could have happened when filling it. Has anyone got a price on the hose or know where I can pick one up. The cap is missing off the top also

you just need to replace the valve i believe. it looks to be the same as the valve in a tire stem. google that to be sure though.. worth a shot

Wouldn't there be some sort of evidence on the inside of the hood if was the shrader valve?

I know you can't really see anything but just an idea where I found some dye.

No.

Mine would leak super slow.. but over night it would pretty much be depleted. And it was mainly just a gas coming out.. so it's not like it'd spray oil and stuff all over the hood or anything.

Try looking really closely at the valve with the ac on and off. You might could put a little soapy water around there to see if anything is leaking. Just make sure it's dry before you add anymore freon or anything, obviously.

That's a low pressure point of the system so with the AC on it might not be enough pressure there to make it leak. That's why I say try it with the AC off as well... the pressures will equalize after you turn it off.

Also.. mine leaked mainly when that pipe got cold and then I turned the car off. I guess the seal got hard.

And lastly, mine didn't start leaking until after I replaced something else and has to re-fill the system with freon. Not sure why.

It may be your evaporator core(the part inside your dash) take a look at your evaporator drain on you fire wall.A leak that big should be easy to find.

I recently had my AC serviced and had both my shrader valves replaced. They charged $15 for each valve and $20 labor, after it was all said and done it cost $180 to get my AC serviced on a 2001.

So one of my hoses was leaking, took two days for them to fix it. I pick it up today, 5 min down the road the new hose explodes.
