I put a new Corsa Pace Car Exhaust and X-Pipe on my car this past Saturday. I installed the X-Pipe first and reattached it to the stock mufflers to allign and then tightened up all the bolts and clamps. I then took off the stock mufflers and over the axel pipes and put on the Corsas. I didn't have any problem on the driver side of the car, but on the passenger side, I had difficulty getting the over the axel pipe flange to line up with the flange on the X-Pipe. I was able to muscle it into place, but as a result, the over the axel pipe seems to have forced the muffler up against the underside of the car, rather than allowing it to float on the muffler hanger. I also can't quite get the tips to line up. I've called Corsa and they suggest loosening the factory set intermediate clamp on the over the axel pipe and then try to readjust. They said I may also need to loosen the X-Pipe and twist it to help the alignment. I'll try this tonight when I get home from work, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if so, what worked best for them to fix it? Thanks for any suggestions!
Re: Corsa Exhaust Install Problem (Mark VerMurlen)
I had the same problem over the weekend .., , with the daytona tips .. installed the crossover pipe w no problem .. could not make tips line up ..no matter what I tried , passenger side would be tight up against the car .. drivers side is fine.. called corsa on saturday and spoke w tech .., suggested several fixes .. none worked .. I have every clamp loose - and it made no difference .. Called Corsa this morning and spoke w Paul .. he is shipping me a new muffler for passenger side .. said this should fix problem..( I'm not so sure).. but will keep you posted ..

Hmmmm. Paul is the guy I spoke to this morning too. He gave me the impression that I should be able to adjust it and that their manufacturing technology shouldn't have any variability in it. Now I'm wondering if this is a larger problem than they're leading us to believe. Personally, I don't think the over-the-axel pipe is bent correctly. I'll be very interested to hear your results with the different muffler. BTW, is the replacement being shipped overnight to you or will it take a few days?
Re: Corsa Exhaust Install Problem (Mark VerMurlen)
Mark .. he said it would ship ground ups , and I should have it by Thursday ..
shipping to Ct.. and gave me a rma # to return the original ... Sounds like they have a problem .. since we are getting different stories , for exactly the same problem // .. Joe
Re: Corsa Exhaust Install Problem (Mark VerMurlen)
I got it!!! I was able to get my exhaust tips perfectly aligned (using a yard stick) and the passenger side muffler no longer touches the body! I found I had to extend the over-the-axle pipe by loosening the factory set intermediate clamps. The passenger side is extended about 5/8 of an inch and the drivers side is extended about 3/8 inch. I'm a little worried that that doesn't leave much overlap of the pipes, but hopefully it will hold. I also had to loosen the clamps at the front of the X-pipe and give the X-pipe a little twist. In all fairness to Paul at Corsa, this is exactly what he told me I'd need to do. I'm happy!! Joe and Phillip, I hope you can get yours to line up and hang right too! :)
Re: Corsa Exhaust Install Problem (Mark VerMurlen)
Guys...I had the same problems a few months ago...It was compounded by the Daytona tips being incorrectly welded. Corsa sent me a whole new set (mufflers and pipes). I still had alignment probelms for a while. I have an A4 and the passenger side pipe was nudged up against the trans pan. Before the second set install, I slightly flattened the area of the pipe to give a little more clearance. Worked fine. I also needed to get stainless steel muffler clamps (4) and replaced those "Torca" clamps. They loosened with each ride. I also needed to align the entire system with all clamps loose and hold them up with jacks and boards and starighten the tips. After many trips under the car, they are now perfect. I will get them welded in place as soon as I feel comfortable with the positioning. Though I love the look and sound, I believe Corsa does have a quality bug...GeorgeC :chevy
George thats the problem I am having now , daytona tips are welded incorrectly and also the passenger pipe is hugging the frame w no clearance , I tried every comb possible w no luck .. They are shipping me a new passenger side muffler to correct the prob .. I hope it works .. but the install should not have to be this difficult , and you should not have to extend the connecting pipe and then twist the x pipe to make it line up.. What ever happened to quality control ?? . Joe :smash:
Joe...A tech at West Coast Corvettes (where I ordered the Corsas) told me he often has to heat the back plate and bends them to align the tips. The Daytonas do have a large welding plate and I was able to adjust them slightly.
As I stated before, I needed to flatten the pipe a bit for more clearance around the trans. It took hours on and off the lift to finally get these right. And other forum members got it right in less than an hour. It all has to do with tolerances and the particular car. It did put me off doing other mods for a while though. Hope you get it straightened out (No pun intended)...GeorgeC
Okay , I received the new passenger side muffler today , after making some adjustments I finally managed to get the tips to line up.... :yesnod: The look and the sound is incredible....is was worth the effort .. ..Joe
Joe...Great...They get better, maybe a little more robust with time but never noisy. You'll need to tighten those clamps again too. The system will expand and contract until they settle down for a while. Good luck and enjoy the attention. BTW...Every ricer will notice the tips and want to run with you. Don't give 'em the satisfaction...George
Re: Corsa Exhaust Install Problem (Mark VerMurlen)
Just installed my Indy's tonight. The tips are not perfect yet but I will tackle them again tomorrow night. To late to mess with it now. Thanks for the tips so far. They have already helped and will hopefully let me finish the job tomorrow.
And the sound is absolutely incredible. I should have done this mod a long time ago. :smash: :smash: :smash:
I could never get my Corsas to look right and eventually spent $25 at a local muffler shop to get it welded up. This is the only way IMO to install these less than friendly mufflers. Don't get me wrong, but the hours I spent trying to get them on myself made me cuss my poor vette!!! I love the Corsas, though, just wouldn't ever install them again myself.
I just "paid the man" at the muffler shop. $50. He was having slight difficulty on the pass side so we did a couple small tack welds to hold them perfectly while everything got tightned up. They are perfect!!! He also said that the Corsa torque specs for the torca clamps was BS. He cranked the snot out of them with an impact wrench.
