A friend of mine has a 99 Coupe. It's a 6 speed with 75k on the clock. No mods all stock. He has had it aligned 2x now...seems like after a couple weeks it's out so bad that it's throwing rubber on the 1/4 panels. Any idea's? You would think, something would be noticeably worn.
A wheel alignment will not normally throw rubber onto the quarter panels. Now burning the tires all the time, you will see this. A normal wheel alignment for this car is a 4-wheel alignment and a competant alignment rack person will always do the rear wheels first.

He told me he had it done 2x and after a couple months is goes right back. The Vette spends most of it's time parked. He's in his 50's and does not drive it hard. I haven't looked under it yet...I was thinking maybe a tie rod end.
The 2 adjustments for the rear alignment are quite simple--You would want the camber to be straight up and the toe in to be in about 1/16-1/8 inch--- The rear tie rod adjustment ends( for the toe in) i believe have plastic bushings--these are known to fail--especially in severve winter areas with salt on the roads-- The eccentrics that are used to adjust the camber i don't think have bushings--but can come loose if you don't tighten both bolts---You may have worn joints too--or worn control arm bushings--
