Default Brake problem "Help Please!"

Hello all hope you can help me. Bought my first Vette about 5 mon ago. Spiral grey metalic on black interior 03 50th ann. Everything has been fine only has 22,000 miles on her. Just this weekend though had a warning come up on dash and HUD "Low brake fluid and active handling disabled." Checked brake fluid and lvl is fine and replaced sensor as well. Still same warning is displayed. is there a reset button do I disconnect the battery and reset cpu or what. Please help me out.. would be greatly appreciated!

thanks,

Chris

Did you verify the brake fluid level sensor was bad with a DMM, or just replace it? If you did verify it was bad, did you install the new one the exact same orientation?

The brake fluid level switch closes when the fluid is low, so if the switch was bad, it should have been shorted all the time. Just removing the connector will make the light go out.

Default Dark fluid maybe!?

Hey thanks alot for your help. When I unpluged the sensor all problems went away. I showed problem with 2 sensors. The only thing I can think of now is that my brake fluid is kind of dark. Think that might be the problem?

You have a bunch of junk in there. But I don't think that's your problem.

The level sensor might be installed wrong or you have sort of electrical problem ?

Did you pull codes from DIC ?

Be sure and suck out the dirty fluid and replace with DOT 3 or DOT 4. If you car is a manual, do the same with the clutch fluid. I change mine about once a month.

READING CODES ON THE C5

Turn the key to the ON position, but don't start the engine. Clear any present messages by pressing the RESET button. Hold the OPTIONS button down, and press the FUEL button 4 times. This will get you into the CODES section of the DIC. The computer will automatically display all the codes your car has created. It will cycle through each code every 3 seconds. Any code that ends in H is a history code (something that has occured in the past) but is fine now. Once the computer has finished going through all of it's codes, press RESET to enter Manual Configuration mode. It should start with a module and show "NO CODES" or "# CODES".

To optionally reset the codes once in manual mode, press and hold RESET until it displays "NO CODES". Press OPTIONS to go to the next module. Repeat the steps in this paragraph until you have reset the codes in all the computer modules. NOTE !! Only reset the codes IF you want to - it is NOT necessary to do this.

I doubt the fluid color has anything to do with this issue.

Need to verify that you installed the switch in the correct position. It's been a while, but I believe you can install the brake level switch 180 degree out of position.

Another check to verify the wiring. Remove mini fuse #19 in the passenger footwell fusebox. Remove the brake level switch connector, and measure the resistance from pin A (purple wire) to ground. You should read an open(or infinite resistance). If you read a short to ground, then there is an issue with the wiring.

Check to see if your new switch is installed in this orientation:
