Default Headlight Problems

My driver side headlight used to get stuck down occasionally. I'd have to get out and mess with the manual open ****, then go back and turn the lights back on and it would come up. Now something is stripped out, it comes up every time, but after turning off the lights it makes an awful sound for about 10 seconds. If I grab the **** it stops trying to close immediately. It seems like it has a sensor that stops the motor, but since something is stripped out it doesn't sense that it is closed and keeps turning until it times out. Does anyone know which part I need to change?

Another thing that I've noticed is that when I turn the parking lights on the headlights pop up, they used to pop up only when I turned the lights all the way on. Is this a setting in the options menu or something  ? All my settings did get reset when I had some work done on my car last week.

Thanks :)
Chad

Hi all,
Hey Chad, sorry to hear about your headlamp. I am in the same boat with you now and am working on a fix for my vette. If you disconnect the wiring harness to the motor, the fogs can be turned on without the headlights popping up. You wanna know what the problem is? It is a little PLASTIC piece of crap worm gear wheel inside the actuator motor that NOBODY IN AMERICA SELLS! It's amazing, it must be manufactured on Mars! You see, the lovely folks at GM have found a motor that, when it breaks like this, you HAVE to buy a whole new one......cost=$200 bucks........Now ain't that REALLY SMART! Let's waste a perfectly GOOD motor just to make a buck!........and let's fill up the landfills with perfectly good motors 'cause those vette owners got plenty of money to burn............. Don't we all? Can you tell I'm just a TAD PISSED? I WILL SUCCEED in finding this part or have several million made so I can help out all my vette buds who get burned by stupid things on the vette like this! Either that, or I will wittle my own outta damn something and fix it! I just don't get those car co.'s! They LOVE to rob people!

:D to funny... I am only laughing because that certinally express the frustration of having to purchase assemblies vs individual parts that are known to fail.
