I have recently been having problems with my headlights. After my car (2000 Convertible) sits for awhile, both headlights will not raise. There is no grinding or abnormal noise, so I don't think it is the gears and it affects both. After cycling the switch multiple times they will eventually raise, although it may only be the right one. Eventually both will raise. Appreciate any advice or recommended troubleshooting process. Thanks.
After your car has been sitting and before trying your headlights, open the hood and turn both of the little wheels on the headlight motors a couple of turns. Now try to open them. If they work, it is your gears. If you still experience problems, I would suspect your headlight switch or your headlight module (near your passenger headlight), in that order.
