OK … It seems that I’ve joined the HEADLIGHT WON”T RAISE CLUB. I had a headlight that was not rising. I went to turn the manual ****, and obviously I turned it the wrong way, and I heard a snap . I didn’t even turn it very hard. Now the headlight raises, but when it lowers it grinds for a while when it is fully seated. It seems that possibly I busted a gear. Are these motor and gear assemblies costly and a pain to replace?
The gear kits are about $50 from Corvette Central catalog I had the same problem & got the kit But I did a quick fix . Raise the light by hand, remove the nut that holds the linkage to the motor & turn the **** til the shaft turns 180 degrees put the linkage back on & its good to go at least for awhile. There are pics of the light fixes in the DIY thread at the top. I did mine by going in from the bottom, taking off the panel in front of the wheel & removing the brake air duct [ you have to bend it in half to get it out] whole thing took 1/2 hour. So I still have the gear repair kit for later if & when I need it . Hope this helps you
