Default Why only one painted rotor?

Second time it has happened to me. I pick up rotors at napa and only one of the caps is painted black. Why?

Also the cheapest rotor they had came in two different part numbers designating left and right and different size boxes and 4 dollars difference in price. ??? How does this make any kind of sense. I did not buy those and they were made in china.

Is there really some kind of Left and right designation?

Yes the fins in the center of the rotor are directional for better air flow, so therefore there is a left and right front. The rears are smaller and also have a built in drum for the parking brake shoes and they also have directional fins in the center of the rotors, so there is a left and right rear.

The rotors you want are the NAPA Premium Rotors. You will find some of them painted and some not painted. The painted ones are made in China while the unpainted ones are new old stock that is being used up. Last time I purchased rotors I got two made in China, one made in Canada and one that was made in the USA. That one must have been sitting on some store's shelves for a long, long time as the rotors were made in Canada for many years before production was moved to China.

The NAPA part numbers are 86700 for the right front, 86701 for the left front, 86702 for the left rear and 86703 for the right rear. Check the boxes before leaving the store to make sure the fins in the rotors go the correct way for the wheel location. I have found the boxes can be marked incorrectly. The fins point to the rear of the car when the rotor is mounted so it is quick and easy to verify which rotor you are looking at while standing at the counter.
