Prior to Thursday no problems starting the Car. Thursday the engine rolls over but just won't fire. Several tries and it fires and off to work I go. Runs like normal. Off work and the same thing , difficult to start but once started runs fine. Get it up on the interstate and once it reaches 80 I lose all power, of coarse I have a line of cars behind me and the guys in the slow lane won't let me in. Once slowed power is restored, get it below 80 and its fine. get off the ramp and I'm cruising at 40 mph with my foot off the gas. At no time did I get any message of failure. Once home I down loaded codes that were current. Got B0361, B2284, and U1064. I wanted to go back and check these for accuracy because they were flashing so fast. At the next attempt at getting codes I can't get past the initial ascroll that occurs when the key is turned on. I could use some help. This is my first Vette and i've only had it since January. and it seems I've had all the quirks associated with C5's Thanks
B2284 Battery #2 Fault
U1064 Loss of Communications with BCM
I didn't see the code B0361, so I'm not sure there. You need to get to those codes. Get in the car and close the door. Turn on the ignition but don't start it. Wait till the display finishes its start up display. Push and hold the Options button then the fuel button like 4 or 5 times within a few seconds. From there, use the other DIC buttons to manually go through the codes. Fuel and Trip buttons will cycle up and down through it and so on. E/M will exit the diagnostic. A wild guess right off is that you are losing battery power to the BCM from the two codes I did find. Need the rest of the code info. Check those battery cables, battery to starter cable. Look for evidence of water in, on and around the BCM and if so, you need to clean the udders. The ignition switch could also be suspect here, but need more info on what else happens besides the low-power mode

Thanks for the input. I can't get the DIC codes any longer. When the key is placed in the on position the initial scroll starts then the dash lights turn off with the exception of a few red lights . Pushing reset and options does nothing. The engine cranks normally but won't fire.
Just in case, try moving the door accordian tube as there is a wire there which is part of the data buss that will short to the frame. If things suddenly change on the DIC, then you're onto something. Otherwise, you should get a code reader. So, down at the BCM, is there any evidence of water on or around it? Its also certainly possible that the ignition switch itself is having issues too as there have been a lot of failures lately of them. I think it would be prudent to send a PM to Bill Curlee at this time.

Is the BCM up behind the front passenger wheel? If it is ,its dry and no sign of water. I pressed and moved around the accordion seal in the door with no changes. When the door is opened and prior to key insertion the dash lights, speedo etc are all lit . I insert the key and the scroll starts then everything but red lights in the dash panel goes black. Turning the key to off and turning to on gets nothing. Opening and closing the door then turning it on gets nothing. I have to physically exit the car and start over. Could I have a battery with a shorted cell ?? I don't know how to get ahold of Bill Curlee.
My son has a 99 Malibu, called with all kind of troubles. I checked the pcm and it was missing a 12V supply that came directly fron the ig sw. thru a fuse that was good..Replaced the switch all aws well. GM SWITCHES ARE JUNK!!! A Big plus the sw in a C5 is in the dash and not the column. I believe the sw is similar to one used in alot of other GM models..not a bad job to replace.

Thanks for the input. Man when I sold the Harleys to buy the vette I've always wanted and have had problems from the beginning, maybe I should have bought Cobra like my kid suggested.
