I am pulling my stock bottom end motor & I have been using c5howto /tech as a guide ,here's the thing ,cajundude pulledhis drivline/tranny 6 speed,I am not trying to pull the driveline with the motor ,so logically thinking the driveline is supported & shouldn't move ,or will it ,I don't see how it will,I appreciate any info on this thank u looks like he has a part in there I didn't see about having a stand undr the cradle ,it will drop fast, what kind of stand a jack stand or 2?

I just did mine, maybe I can be of some help. I pulled mine out the top as a shortblock. I had to drop the front cradle to the floor or very close. To do that, disconnect the top control arms, front struts, and brake line brackets on the framerails. I then supported the motor and took out all of the bellhousing bolts. You will need to provide some support to the torque tube as you pull the motor off of it (you will probably need a prybar to get it started). If the motor and torque tube are not at the same angle the input shaft will bind in the clutch disc and will be very hard to remove. Be careful when you pull the motor off, I wasn't and bent one of the fingers on my new ls7 pressure plate. After that it's pretty easy, up and out!

Only thing is I am running an auto & don't have pressure plate or a clutxh, this is what's kinda confusing me,I have a flexplate, so what my plan was or maybe is pulling the motor @ home & have my tuners mechanicc install the new motor & I don't know how that's gonna effect trying to support the tq converter .tq tube.bellhousing

I see what you are saying. I don't know too much about how the auto stuff works, but a quick search brought up this thread with pics. Hope it helps!

If you're going to have someone else install the motor you ought to let them pull the motor.

You'll have to support the torque tube with a brace (jack stand) once you pull the motor.

With a auto doon't forget you'll have remove the spline lock bolt up front before yanking the motor. It's not like a six speed that just slides out.

Just go rent or buy a cherry picker. It will make the job much easier.

Well I got a picker that's not the problem ,its supporting the bellousingtq tube while the motors out of the car & in tow, that's the issue , the controlarms / shocks is dangeling ,looks like I gotta decision to make on this ,I was just quoted 1500.00 to do this job ,the headers just got pulled last night & the heads are going on the new motor,so he will take the smallblock out ,I will ,make the new motor a longblock by adding my heads & he will drop it in for 1500.00 & 500.00 for a tuneso there u have it its either me doing it or dropping 1500.00 does this sound resonable?

It sounds to me like either you should do it all or he should do it all.

I don't see how you're going to transport the car unless you put the front end back together to haul it over there.

I guess youcould tie a rope on the front bell housing and wrap it around the shock towers to keep it from dragging or pull the center console and get a 2 x 4 and rope and make a loop to hold it in place by removing shifter.
