Default HELP! electrical gurus come help

i painted my alternator today. plugged everything in. made a dumb mistake and forgot to put the belt back on. i started the car and it ran weird said charging system failure. it would surge to 2500 rms if i touched the gas. i turned it off realized the belt was off. but now my engine light come on and my coolant gauge pins to max temp. its a pcm code. but i dont know what it means.

where is a site i can look them up for reference. and what do you think happened. car runs fine but that engine light and coolant gauge is messed up. ill go look and see what code

Here's one, there are many out there;

It probably just needs reset... I wouldn't imagine that anything would have been "hurt" by running off the battery for awhile. You may need to charge the battery though, these cars act up with a low battery.

Post back up if you're still having problems. I'm far from an expert... It seems they are all sleeping right now!

Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor is located on the side of the left head below/behind the alternator. Check the sensor and related wiring for damage, chafing, etc. You were working in this area were you not?

Clear codes, see what code(s) return.
