Is there any difference between an auto and manual diff?

Realize that you'll need to remove the A4 diff seal plate from the old diff before installing it to the manual trans. The plate is only needed on the A4.

I have a 3.42 in my 6 spd car. I bought a 3.15 rear because I burned up my diff. I swapped in an MN12 so with the tighter trans gear, the 3.15 shouldn't be a big change.
