My 2003 Z06 has a noise that only happens after it warms up and when you are releasing the clutch in first gear. After you release the clutch completely it goes away. Sounds like a grinding kind of or a shaft wallowing in a worn bushing type noise. Tonight it got worse than it has been and I discovered if I push the clutch back in when it starts it keeps growling until I realease the clutch.
Believe it or not all the '01's do the same thing. They even tell you about it in the video you get. Its nothing to worry about, just some poor design feature of the transmission. I wondered about it after I purchased my '01 but now I don't even notice it. I don't know if they fixed it in any later model. Typical chevy!

No way I'll ever get to the point of not noticing it.
I had not watched the video until now and sure nuff, they said it's normal .
I guess all MFGs do crap like this. My Mustang had a disclaimer in the glove box on the way or lack of the way the tranny shifted. After time I put an aftermarket shifter in it and tried different oils till I got it acceptable. NO WAY WAS I GOING TO LIVE WITH IT.
I'm surprised I couldn't find this info using the search. I'm also surprised the users haven't figured out how to fix it for them.
Thanks so much for the reply. At least now I don't have to worry about a $4k tranny problem or something like that.
low miles replacement tranny is only like 1000-1500 bucks for a vette
A built tranny might cost 4K....and hopefully that thing would never break.
These cars have alot of inherent noises, sometimes mine will shift like an Accord other times it's very stubborn and balks @ the 1-2 shift...it's just the way they are
Best thing to do is get a Borla Stinger cat-back with a Magnaflow x-pipe exhaust,,,then you can't hear all the strange noises! Eventually you'll be so deaf you won't even hear the little woman screaming!!
